Poll: Majority supports special prosecutor for Russia investigation
The Hill By Rebecca Savransky
A majority of Americans in a new poll thinks a special prosecutor should investigate the ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
A CNN/ORC poll finds that 65 percent of Americans think a special prosecutor should handle the investigation and 32 percent think Congress can handle it.
Broken down by party affiliation, only 43 percent of Republicans think a special prosecutor is necessary to handle the investigation, while 82 percent of Democrats and 67 percent of independents call for a special prosecutor.
Slightly more than half of Americans, 55 percent, say they are at least somewhat concerned by the reports that Trump campaign officials had contacts with Russia during the campaign.
